Job Description

We are seeking an experienced extrusion machine operator to join our client who is one of the largest privately-owned companies in its field - they have been operating for over 100 years!

They provide a comprehensive product range to their clients including but not limited to steel, piping, fencing, fittings, fastenings, engineering supplies, duct iron, and valves.

Your responsibilities in this job:

  • Setting up and monitoring machine performance
  • Troubleshoot on simple machine problems
  • Support maintenance engineers when required
  • Minimizing machine downtime, flagging issues as they arise to keep the production running
  • This is a VERY PHYSICAL ROLE involving a great work out whilst loading materials onto the production line
  • Conform to all health and safety in the workplace
  • General duties to support day to day activities
  • Requires high attention to detail, ensuring the products are manufactured to a high standard

    More details about the role:

  • Full time Monday - Friday
  • 8am - 4.30pm
  • $20 p/h starting rate
  • Employee KiwiSaver contribution
  • Permanent opportunity on offer after 3 months

    What we need from you:

  • Minimum of 6 months Machine Operating experience
  • Preferably experience with operating an extrusion machine
  • OSH license would be preferable and very advantageous
  • You MUST be able to keep up with the fast-paced environment
  • Be confident - if you see something wrong, we want you to speak up
    Hard-working, reliable, and a drive to be the best
  • A minimum of restricted driving license is a MUST to be considered for this role!
  • You may be required to use other machinery such as chainsaws from time to time so will need to be mechanically minded
  • You also must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and have a satisfactory criminal check.
